So I started a Redbubble a little while ago. I make fanart and lil pictures and as much as I love to draw I never thought it would really reach anyone, especially with how much amazing work there is out there. A couple of weeks ago, i was really excited that I actually made a sale for a shirt to someone in the UK. Today I saw this picture:

This is my artwork. My one sale was to Jodie Whittaker. And she wore it to awesome con?!! My brain can’t process this information?!

JOE KEERY PANEL MEMORIES

THEFT: stole items from Dustin’s closet and Starcourt mall sets; Dustin’s bedroom was good for napping and Starcourt was good for air conditioning

PROPS: when asked what alternative industry role they’d like to try, Grace said she’d write psychological thrillers and Joe joked that he’d be an unhinged prop guy (even tho OBVIOUSLY he’d be working on the soundtrack/score)

HAIR: wore a hat both days, which only became funny when Cara Buono introduced him at second panel with a fond recollection of their bonding in the hair trailer, emphasizing it so heavily that when Joe emerged with the hat, he shrugged apologetically 

SHIP: an audience member had asked Gaten which of the Joes he’d save from a sinking ship, and Gaten said Joseph Quinn; posed the same premise (Gaten vs JQ), Joe would also save Joseph Quinn (said in a petty way, feigning offense, to much laughter); he noted that Gaten would probably be fine without help anyway

LOOKS: asked what was key ingredient to the essence of a Stanger Things scene, Joe said it was all in the loaded looks, i.e. “EXPOSITION DUMP” … 👀👀👀 — to the point where Duffers will prompt them, “Okay, now let’s have some loaded looks.”

ROBOT: Cara Buono opened all her panels with some either/or questions like coffee or tea, dogs or cats, etc; Joe incorrectly answered that given choice of having a giant robot or a small dragon, he’d pick the robot (Grace and Mason correctly picked dragon)

LINES: asked by an aspiring actor for tips ahead of her leading role in a school play, Joe advised that she allow ample time to memorize her lines; he personally can only relax if he gives himself days to master them, and he can only learn them while moving around

TV: asked their guilty pleasure programs, Mason said Love is Blind, Grace said Love Island, and Joe said Survivor

CUTE: the last to ask a question was a young boy who’d been moved to the front of the line; when informed it was his birthday, the panel and whole audience sang him happy birthday

AND FINALLY

PISS: recounting what it was like to film the underwater scenes, he described the massive tank built and the special underwater film crew brought in, then casually mentioned that the tank is filtered… such that… everyone just… pees at will? Because it would take too long to haul people out every time they needed to piss, so… so yeah, every scene filmed in a tank like that (Titanic, for example), everyone in there is just swimming in each other’s piss. There was an awkward pause, and then he laughed, said bye, and pretended to see himself off stage. 

Honorable mention (unrelated to Joe):

INCEST: when recapping their early careers, how they landed Stranger Things, etc, Mason mentioned a role in Flowers in the Attic, which Cara vividly remembered reading in middle school and made a yikes face. At Grace’s confusion, Mason explained the plot, and Grace processed it for a sec, then asked, “And you… were the brother?” Indeed, he was.

Saw a mention of "Thief juice: it's a mouth crime" in the Leverage tag and it sparked a glorious thought:

A fair number of them look like straight-forward descriptions, nothing notable except perhaps the unusual inclusion of "the" before all of them, e.g., The Cuban Sandwich, The Cherry Pie, and The Apple Pie (most customers don't understand why the apple pie crust vents/decorations sometimes resemble life preservers, but it certainly doesn't occur to them to connect it to the very literal name).

Things turn significantly more confusing for most patrons with other menu items. Customers familiar enough with con-artist lingo recognize some of the established con names enough to figure out the naming theme, and some of them can guess at associations between some of the food and their namesake cons, but for the most part it's a mystery.

"The Fiddle Game" is Eliot's chili, at Parker's insistence. Hardison was initially a little concerned, since the "fiddle" is supposed to be an overvalued item that is actually essentially worthless, and, Parker, maybe we shouldn't be applying that to any of Eliot's food? But after Eliot gruffly cut him off and tried to pretend he wasn't a little choked up about it, Hardison decided not to stand in the way of Parker insights. (And he supposed she had technically named the chili after the con, not the fiddle itself, and the con was solid. A classic.)

No one on staff quite understands the private joke between the owners and head chef about using horsemeat in "The Lost Heir" burger--they all know it's actually bison.

And, finally, one of the most baffling to their clientele is also one of Eliot's few suggestions of non-literal con names for food, and an ongoing good-natured argument between Eliot and Hardison: Splitting a sandwich between two people with sides of soup or salad is "The Vegas Wake-Up Call." (It's like the Cuban Sandwich, but "the boyfriend shows up").

ok I wasn't going to make a post about this but unfortunately I have no choice. I have just watched the 2004 movie Starsky & Hutch, starring Ben Stiller as David Starsky, also starring Dave Strider's very cool very ironic sunglasses.

now here's the thing. you would think that Dave, known cool guy who places a lot of Importance on being cool, would wear sunglasses that belonged to a suave badass character. NOT SO. Starsky is the biggest fucking loser in the world here, an absolute laughing stock, the butt of most of the jokes. here's a partial rundown of the shit he gets into (spoilers for the 2004 movie Starsky & Hutch)

attempts to trash talk a dead body

shoots the tail off an iguana

gets laughed at for wearing a fake mustache

tells criminals that it's cool to be themselves

owns a cooking apron that says KISS THE COP

puts police evidence in his night coffee

gets stabbed multiple times by a child

jumps out of a giant gift box while dressed as a mime

shoots a pony that is a gift for a girl's bat mitzvah

gets told by his boss that his mom would be disappointed in him

leaves a donut on his mom's grave

shoots his boss while trying to do a trick shot

drives his car into the ocean for no reward

meets the future version of himself and exclusively talks about driving tips

I understand why Dave likes this movie. It's funny, can definitely be read as ironic, very homoerotic in ways that can easily be played off as just jokes, a really terrible CGI explosion at one point, and Snoop Dogg kicks ass as Huggy Bear. But I'd expect Dave to watch this and thing 'I'm like Hutch, the cool and charismatic one who's above the rules, and my silly friend John is like Starsky who wears a cardigan to work and cries when he tells me I'm a good cop' but he is literally cosplaying Starsky every day. He even has a similar name.

Anyway this movie is very fun, it is a cop movie but all the cops are pretty incompetent and it's not as aggressively pro cop as a lot of cop media, and there weren't any super offensive jokes. I would recommend it to anyone looking for a goofy comedy. 7/10

comic con is like the weirdest and biggest crossover fanfic ever. i saw the tenth doctor in a light saber sword fight against mario. an among us character was making out with a genshin impact guy. sonic got arrested. where else in the world am I going to see things like this.

I went to a local con this weekend and during a cosplay contest there was a guy cosplaying someone from warhammer. I would be none the wiser if I haven't recognise the simbol on his helmet and internally went "THAT'S MY MUTUALS' BLORBO FROM MY DASH" and proceeded to cheer as loud as possible. Anyway @da-boy-o-kultur @alamuts-lair-of-madness this one goes for you

Anson Mount and Ethan Peck at FAN EXPO Cleveland

Anson Mount and Ethan Peck are visiting another FAN EXPO touring convention, this time in Cleveland, Ohio - March 24 2023.

Their usual schedule includes a Star Trek: Strange New Worlds panel, autograph signing, plus photo sessions and selfies with fans. The official highlights clip from Day 1 (Friday) has a teeny bit of footage from the panel, and of Ethan waving at the camera when he was doing signings. :)
